This story follows a 20thCentury English professor Brendan Doyle, who travels back in time to London, 1820. Although he was intending to attend a lecture of Samuel Taylor Coleridge (an English romantic poet), he finds that London is full of deformed clowns, beggar societies, monstrous experiments combining humans and animal, and most of all, magic. The atmospheric and creepy tone of the novel is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout this adventure, with murder, mayhem, body switching, wizards meddling with Egyptian gods and goddesses, and more. This novel has had many positive reviews of being clever, epic, fun and a favourite read for many, receiving a 3.94-star rating on goodreads.
