Summary:

This fast-paced novel follows the life of Taita, a talented eunuch slave in ancient Egypt. Taita serves the family of Lord Intef, until given as a gift to his daughter Lostris at her wedding to the Pharaoh. However, Lostris is in love with a soldier Tanus, a man her father strongly dislikes. This love triangle is the cause of many problems to come in this novel, as the two lovers desire for one another grows stronger. When Tanus is sentenced to death by the Pharaoh from speaking out about the troubles of Egypt, Taita will risk everything to save him, but with an even greater threat to the kingdom these two will be forced to take up a new quest to save their homeland. The character-driven style of this novel has received many positive reviews and there are many that praise the writing of Taita and how he narrates the story.
